Badass Sister Rosetta Tharpe

Badass Sister Rosetta Tharpe

Sister Rosetta Tharpe, often celebrated as 'The Godmother of Rock and Roll,' is an unsung hero in the annals of music history. She was the spark that ignited the fire of countless iconic rock legends to come.  I wanted to pay homage to this queen of music and acknowledge her as a symbol of empowerment for women, a beacon of hope for artists of color, and an inspiration for all those who dare to be unapologetically themselves. She was a trailblazer on multiple fronts, not only being a woman who defied the norm and made a lasting impact but also as a woman of color who broke down racial boundaries. Her legacy continues to inspire, breaking boundaries and stereotypes while uniting us through the universal language of music. Tharpe stands as a symbol of resilience, audacity, and innovation, transcending both gender and racial barriers in a male-dominated and predominantly segregated music industry. Her intersectional identity and her incredible talent made her a true representation of the power of diversity in music.
